Western Women’s Track and Field: Paradee breaks own record. Top performances: Senior Bethany Drake took second in the javelin competition with a throw of 47.14 meters at the Ken Shannon Invitational Friday, May 5, in Seattle. Junior Anna Paradee finished second in pole vaulting with a height of 4.01 meters at the Ken Shannon Invitational Saturday, May 6, in Seattle. This height broke Paradee’s own school record and GNAC record she previously owned. Freshman Hannah Bradley finished ninth in the 100 meters with a time of 12.93 seconds. Notes: GNAC Outdoor Championships are Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, at Western Oregon University.   Western Men’s Track and Field Western men’s team competes in Ellensburg, Washington. Top performances: Senior Gordie Kordas finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 4.80 meters at the Oregon Twilight Meet Friday, May, 5, in Eugene, Oregon. Freshman Enrique Gomez finished seventh in the 800 meters with a time of 1:56.36 at the Ken Shannon Invitational Saturday, May 6, in Seattle. Sophomore Jacob Ringold finished second in the triple jump with a jump of 13.10 meters feet at the Ken Shannon Invitational Saturday, May 6, in Seattle. Notes: GNAC Outdoor Championships are Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, at Western Oregon University.   Western Women’s Softball: Western is the 2017 GNAC Champions. Last result: Western’s softball team beat Western Oregon University 5-0 to receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Championships at the GNAC Championship on Sunday, May 7, in Lacey, Washington.

Western has won 11 consecutive games heading into the NCAA Division II Championships. This is tied for the third longest win streak in program history. Overall record: 33-17, 19-9 in GNAC play. Ranking: Winner of 2017 GNAC Championship. Next game: Will face Cal State Monterey Bay in the first round of the West 1 Regional at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, May 11, in Marina, California. Notes: Freshman Anna Kasner is 9-0 with 1.47 ERA. Western is 16-5 in her starts.   Western Women’s Golf: Two golfers chosen to GNAC All-League Team. Junior Jenn Paul and sophomore Stephanie Sewell were selected for the GNAC All-League Team. Paul was chosen first team for the third consecutive year and Sewell was made the second team.   Western Men’s Golf: Three golfers selected to GNAC ALL-League team. Senior golfers Chris Hatch, Brett Johnson and Jeffrey Macrum were selected first team GNAC All-League Team. Next tournament: Western is the sixth seed in the West and will compete in the South Central/West Regional Monday through Wednesday, May 8-10, at the Bakersfield Country Club bein Stockton, California.   Western Women’s Lacrosse: Women’s lacrosse trying to raise money for nationals. Western has raised $4,040 of the $10,000 needed to go to nationals. Next game: Nationals will be held Wednesday through Saturday, May 10-13 in Salt Lake City, Utah.   Western Women’s Rowing Team Western helps open boating season in Seattle. Last race: Western competed against the University of Washington, Seattle University and Pacific Lutheran University at the Windermere Cup Regatta. Western went up against Division I schools including the number one team in UW. Western finished second in Collegiate Varsity 4+ race. Next race: Western waits to hear who it faces at the NCAA Division II National Championship, which is Friday through Sunday, May 26-28, in West Windsor, New Jersey.
