Its six wins this week extends its winning streak to eight, and they have won 13 of their last 15 games. The Vikings are surging, led by junior pitcher and third baseman Makinlee Sellevold. Sellevold was named Great Northwest Athletic Conference player of the week last week, and that form continues as she was 5-for-9 at the plate on Friday. The Vikings are getting it done on offense; they’ve outscored their opponents 54-30 this week.They have punched their ticket for the GNAC Championships, to be played in Lacey, May 4-6.MEN’S GOLF:Results: Won GNAC Championships in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, April 24-25Recap: The Western men’s golf team claimed their second straight (and eighth in ten years) GNAC title. They climbed back into the match after being down seven strokes coming into the last round for a thriller victory that came down to the last hole. They were carried by senior Chris Hatch, who shot a tournament best, 67 on the second round, and finished second overall out of the 30-man field.The team has advanced to the NCAA Division II Championships, to be held May 8-10 in Stockton, California.WOMEN’S GOLF:Results: Second place in GNAC Championships in Couer d’Alene Idaho, April 25Recap: The women’s golf team had too much to overcome in the second round of the GNAC championships Tuesday, as they took second to repeat winners Simon Fraser University by 19 strokes. Junior Jenn Paul tied for third place for the individual honors.

Recap: The track team took home quite the hardware collection at the 36th Annual Ralph Vernacchia Track & Field Meet, at Civic Field in Bellingham.MEN’S ROWING:Results: Varsity 8+, Junior Varsity 8+ third in petite final, Novice 4+ second in petite final, Lightweight 4+ fourth in grand finalRecap: The men’s rowing team traveled to the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championship regatta, bringing a four-boat crew. The Varsity 8 is off to nationals at Lake Lanier, Georgia, May 27-28.WOMEN’S ROWING:Results: Varsity 8+ first overall, Varsity 4+ (A-boat) first overall, Varsity 4+ (B-Boat), first in petite final, Novice 4+ first overallRecap: The number one ranked women’s rowing team showed a strong performance at WIRA’s, claiming all the gold medals possible for them. There was a variety of close racing, with the Varsity 4+ winning by 0.7 seconds and the Novice 4+ making up nearly six seats in the last 80 meters of the race for a massive comeback. They won the team efficiency award for the regatta.MEN’S CYCLING:Results: Placed 12th of 30, Saturday April 29, Grand Junction, ColoradoRecap: The men’s cycling team went to the Collegiate Road Championships, where they beat schools such as Dartmouth College, Duke University, and University of Chicago in the team omnium event.
