Women’s Track and Field

The women’s track team had first place finishes in two events.

Top performances:

Freshman Aundrea Koger won the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:56.13 Saturday, April 22, at the 23rd Annual Spike Arlt Invitational hosted by Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Senior Megan Mortensen won the discus event with a throw of 43.77 meters at the Spike Arlt Invitational, which was Mortensen’s best throw this season.

Western’s next track meet is Saturday, April 29, at the 2017 Ralph Vernacchia Track & Field Meet at Civic Stadium in Bellingham.

Men’s Track and Field

Western men’s team competes in Ellensburg, Washington.

Top performances:

Sophomore Alex Barry won the javelin competition with a throw of 60.69 meters Saturday, April 22, at the 23rd Annual Spike Arlt Invitational hosted by Central Washington University in Ellensburg.

Freshman Waverly Shreffler took first in the 800-meter with a time of 2:20.68 at the Spike Arlt Invitational.

Western’s next track meet is Saturday, April 29, at the 2017 Ralph Vernacchia Track & Field Meet at Civic Stadium in Bellingham.

Women’s Softball

Last result: Western’s softball team played three doubleheaders: two against Western Oregon University on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22, and one against Concordia University, Sunday, April 23.

On Friday, Western won the first game 13-1 in five innings, but lost the second game 6-1.

On Saturday, Western beat WOU 6-5 on a walk-off hit after scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh. WOU won the second game 1-0.

On Sunday, Western beat Concordia 6-4 in the first game, and won the second game 12-4.

Overall record: 24-17, 13-9 in GNAC play.

Ranking: Third in GNAC

Western plays Simon Fraser University in a doubleheader on Tuesday, April 25.

Women’s and Men's Golf

Western’s next tournament will be the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships Monday and Tuesday, April 24-25, at Coeur d’Alene Resort in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. 

Women's golf has won five of the last six GNAC Championships.

Men's golf won the 2016 GNAC Championships.

Women’s Rowing

Western's No. 1 ranked rowing team next races in California.

Next race: Western will try to repeat at the Western Collegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships on Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30, in Gold River, California.

The Vikings have won 14 of their last 17 races.

Men’s Baseball

Last result: Western men’s baseball swept its three-game series against Portland State University Saturday and Sunday, April 22-23 at Joe Martin Field.

Record: 13-2 in conference play.

Next game: Western will play Gonzaga University Saturday and Sunday, April 29-30 in Spokane. The two teams are tied for first place in the conference.
